RAPPIT Precipitator Vibrator Manual
Installation, Operation & Maintenance Instructions
Installation:
- Tapered precipitator shaft (steel or insulated) must be clean or free of grease or oil before installing Rapp-It vibrator.
- After proper positioning, the vibrator will seat correctly by temporarily starting vibrator or tapping on the taper.
- Attach flexible hose to air inlet using thread sealant.
- The 3/8 ” N.C. tapped hole in taper mount may be used for ground strap if required.
Removal: Vibrator assembly may be removed from its mounting by either method noted below:
- Use of a special 1/8″ grease fitting in tapered mount area (remove airline if necessary). “Pop” assembly loose from taper mount with standard grease gun.
- Assembly may be “driven” off by temporary reversal of the internal piston. Be certain that the piston is properly re-installed prior to remounting to the tapered shaft. CAUTION! Be certain that bore and piston are clean and that the cap seal and ring are seated properly.
Operation:
Vibrator should be operated at as low air pressure as possible to properly clean plate and wires. An average of 20 to 30 P.S.I.G. is normally sufficient for high tension wires while 25 to 40 P.S.I.G. may be used for collecting plate cleaning. Rapp-It vibrators incorporate a “Tef-Kote” feature which will operate with existing lubrication systems (S.A.E. 10 or lighter). This feature also permits use in below freezing conditions. Additives such as Killfrost or Marvel Mystery Oil, or similar, may be used to prevent air line freeze-ups.
Maintenance:
- Periodically check all air connections and tighten if necessary.
- Check that filters is clean and free of moisture.
- Be certain that air pressure is set at the proper determined setting for adequate cleaning action.
- If lubricator or anti-freeze additive is used, check for proper level and flow rate.
Trouble Shooting: Vibrator will not operate …
- Check air pressure and volume.
- Check that solenoid valve is operating properly
- Check for broken piston spring on horizontal “SS” mounted unit.
- Sluggish operating valve:
- Check operating valve.
- Check for air system leaks.
- Check vibrator interior for accumulated trash or sludge and clean with petroleum based solvent.
- Check for adequate lubrication.
